Telephone/Web Town Hall: Reducing Single-use and Takeaway Items in Toronto

  • Toronto City Hall Council Chamber 100 Queen Street West Toronto, ON, M5H 2N2 Canada (map)

Have your say on approaches to reduce single-use & takeaway items in Toronto

The City of Toronto is undertaking consultations to help develop a strategy to reduce the use of single-use and takeaway items in Toronto. A single-use or takeaway item is any product designed for a single use after which it is disposed of in the garbage, Blue Bin (recycling) or Green Bin (organics). Typically, these products are not designed for durability or reuse. Examples include plastic bags and takeout containers.

The feedback from these consultations will be used to develop a final Single-Use and Takeaway Item Reduction Strategy for Toronto that will be presented to City Council in the first half of 2020.
